Need for Workshop

Much of humanitarian work is characterized by constant staff movements, exposures to mass humanitarian crises, fatigue from heavy workloads and demanding deadlines in sometimes insecure environment, lack of privacy , long periods of separation from family/friends/colleagues, and the occasional abrupt end of assignments which impose high risk to personal health and performance systems which in turn affect interpersonal relations, individual clarity, concentration, attitude to work and alertness .The cumulative effect of this is high rates of staff absenteeism, illnesses, high accident rates ,lessened commitment to work, dampened team spirit, leading to inefficiencies ,increased costs to the organization from the high turn- over and subsequent loss of skilled staff.

Whereas many organizations identify stress as a major contributor to low individual performance and team productivity, they lack both the care systems and resources to effectively address the challenge resulting from stress. However, since the demand for humanitarian work is not only necessary but increasing in scope and complexities, it falls on organizations to design and implement strategies to reduce/prevent stress and its effects on their staff to improve their individual well being and increase their productivity to the organizations and the beneficiaries of the services offered by those organizations. This 2 day training helps managers to recognize and deal with stress among staff.
